jacket as canvas
I have been toying around with the idea (past 6 years) of painting clothes like they were normal paintings. Bringing the artist workwear and artwork aesthetic to wearable clothes to me is like bringing art out of museums and galleries to the streets. My trend forecast sense tells me that classic oil paintings and artists from late 19th century and early modernists of the 20th century will be back in style in interior design and fashion. Or maybe they never went out of style..
I have done different kinds of splatter painting to upgrade second hand clothes in the past years, but not done anything bigger or more complex. I need to practice my oil painting skills to make them. I first came across this technique way back in late 90´s when I was in sewing school and got familiar with the works of Martin Margiela and his white painted clothes.
